Gooey Butter Cake is my number one requested cake.

Having grown up baking with my grandmother and mother (nicknamed Jowin), I started decorating cakes over 20 years ago. But Gooey Butter Cake reigns supreme - I've even made Gooey Butter wedding cake.

Gooey Butter Cake is a rich dessert with a buttery crust under a sweet dense cake. It originated in St. Louis in the 1930's, most likely by accident with a cake mix.

 

Jowin's Kitchen began as a home-based bakery, and in August 2024, we opened our storefront in Columbia, Missouri.
